Buzzer-Beater For The Win!Updated Sunday January 13, 2019 by Justin Weaver.
Statistically speaking Levang's team should've been outmatched in this game, but they came out running and scoring so many points that the Stars were frozen, looking to break the bucket ice. The Stars had Macy score one bucket in the first quarter and Jovie score another bucket the second quarter, but Levang put up 14 points in the first quarter and four more in the second, bringing the half-time score to 18 to 4.
As daunting as it was the Stars continued to believe and stepped onto the court in the third quarter with Sara Claire leading the way scoring six points and Jovie and Kate putting additional scores up. So going into the fourth quarter it was 20 to 14, Levang still with a six point lead. The fourth quarter started fast with Sara Claire putting up a quick two more baskets with Macy sinking one bucket from the free throw line. Jovie also put up another basket bringing the score to 22 to 21. So with a one point difference Levang's team brought the ball down and after a couple of possession changes it looked like Levang's team would successfully milk the clock. Levang turned the ball over with six seconds on the clock.
The final play of the game was quick and calculated. Jovie took the ball out and passed it in to Macy. Macy quickly ran the ball down the court. With no time outs left the Stars needed to take it the distance of the court in six seconds and put it in. Macy took an outside shot from the left side as the buzzer sounded with the ball mid-air. Boom....it was the perfect shot and the Stars bathed in the glory a miracle comeback after a hard fought battle. The lesson the Stars took from this game is to never give up, anything is possible.
